Pros & Cons :
Key Features :
The VivoBook X505ZA has a very eye-catching looks and has a premium-looking faux brushed aluminium finish on the lid. Whether it’s painted in grey or gold, the laptop flashes on eye-contact for sure. The lid is made of plastic and should hold up well against daily abuse in the long run.
The ultra-thin bezel of the NanoEdge display on the VivoBook 15 allows a 39.62cm(15.6-inch) Full HD display to fit into a frame size that’s only slightly larger than those typically used in 14-inch laptops. The 7.7mm bezel on the NanoEdge display also results in an incredible 81% screen-to-body ratio – so you get more screen for more immersive viewing.
Underneath the undesirable plastic build lies AMD’s Ryzen 5-2500U processor clocked up to 3.6GHz. The processor is paired with 2MB of cache memory. To help with the graphics, Asus has paired it AMD’s Vega 8 graphics with 1GB of VRAM. The top-end variant that I was testing had 8GB RAM and 1TB SATA HDD.
The screen’s brightness and colour retention is good but it suffers from a serious defect, poor viewing angles. The image turns pale and blacks turn to greys resulting in in poor visibility if you move the laptop screen away from a 70-80 degree viewing angle. This is the big flaw in this laptop.
